more than just football
Protostars (Reception – Year 1 and Year 2)
Our Soccer School Session. It is designed to be interactive and fun with the aim of developing ball mastery and ball control. Our experience of coaching has shown us that this is a very important age for children to develop basic football skills and this session is set up to do just that.
Stars (Years 3, 4 and 5)
These intensive training sessions are for all abilities and have been designed specifically to develop youth players at all levels. The monthly program is designed to provide structure and combine technical skills, fitness, agility and strength and self-discipline - all the important aspects of football.
Superstars (Years 6, 7 and 8)
These sessions work on match condition to develop competitiveness, teamwork and sportsmanship. Players will be placed in squads according to their current level, but this is not fixed – if you’re not in the first team you can be promoted, just like in a professional club. The aim is to make you part of a winning team and give you a sense of achievement. Being able to handle the highs and lows in a sporting way also makes you a good role model in the community.
Keeping up high standards in youth football is important for the academies image as well so you can be sure we will do everything we can to help you be the best player you can be.
A fantastic way to get – and stay – fit. Carl Brooks is your man here, you never realised how much fun hard work could be. Activities include:
And much, much more.
An all over body work out using slam balls, battle ropes and much, much more.
Don’t worry, we don’t expect you to be Superman or Wonderwoman, it starts at your current level.
It’s a challenge but give it go - you will be able to do it and enjoy it.
AJ Sport Academy is currently in partnership with Dunkirk Primary School delivering mentoring and sports coaching five days a week and we are working to expand this service with other schools.
We can talk over issues with behaviour and nurture young people to become positive school ambassadors and future community leaders.
We currently deliver this program in partnership with Bluecoat Academy Beechdale mentoring year 7's one day a week. Again, we are seeking to extend this service into other schools.
Going from primary to secondary school is a very important time for everybody and we aim to make this easier through mentoring and sport engagement.
As members you would benefit from the knowledge and experience that we have built up delivering the Mentoring and Enrichment Program.
As well as our main sport sessions AJ Sport Academy also play an active role in running a youth club at the Sheila Ropa Centre. The Youth Club runs every Tuesday evening and is part of our work in supporting the community. Activities include:
PS4 Gaming (including FIFA)
Music Studio Sessions
Any ideas for new activities - come along and let us know.
Music, like football, is a great way to express yourself. Music can bring out and channel a whole range of emotions and has been shown to help young people express their feelings, especially if they are feeling a bit left out or vulnerable.
The music studio has all the latest equipment for making music and recording and we value these outlets and activities very highly.
Music keeps your mind active and gives our members yet another opportunity to work with others, make friends and enjoy the sense of achievement when their music is played. So, want to lay down some sounds, come and get involved.
Free Holiday Camp
Activity and having fun are essential in the lives and development of young people.
To encourage this and provide opportunities we run free holiday camps every half term and during the summer holidays.
All of our camps are totally free and are provided with funding from the local authorities. Just like professional clubs we think it is important to give something back to local communities.
Yoga with Natalie offers children and teenagers the benefits of practising yoga, physically it improves strength, flexibility and co-ordination, in particular supporting our young sport stats. Mentally yoga brings children relaxation, focus, improved concentration, and overall sense of calmness.
